Description

So a brand new Kadey Krogen is not in your budget. Here is your boat!  Original owners, I built this boat with them and the care she has received is over the top. (Engineers make great owners!)  The gelcoat shines deep, the interior is beautiful and most important her engine and systems have been cared for well beyond recommendations. Oil Samples and maint records....

**note in the photos that her varnish is already scheduled.

She has all her original electronics, all of which perform perfectly, but if any upgrade is to be done, that would be it. Other than that she is in amazing condition and ready for another for another 15+ years of exploration. Could not be more "turn-key". I am lucky to present her, and to have known these owners over the years of their adventures.

You are about to click through pictures so to answer your first question, yes, she really is that clean! She is out of her winter shed and in the water in Kenosha, about an hours drive from O'Hare airport.

Watertight bulkhead forward with freeman deck hatch. Superstructure includes Corecell® closed-cell PVC sandwich core and Knytex® surface mats for print-through reduction. Teak aft and side decks. Boat and fore decks have GripTex® non-skid finish. Bulwark has molded plank lines with gel coat finish. Polyurethane formulated marine sealants used at hull-to-deck, boat deck joints and exterior fittings. Marine-grade plywood bulkheads with molded fiberglass hat section stringers. Interior finished with handcrafted solid Cherry and veneers

Saloon and Galley

Sojourn is the Widebody model so that the interior of the Saloon and Galley extends all the way out to the hull on the port side making this area the same dimensions as a 50 footer.

To Port are two stressless recliners with ottomans and a nice TV and entertainment system. To Stbd is an L-shaped settee with a large dining/cocktail table with fold out leaves and height adjustment. Further to port, across from the galley is a bar/pantry/cabinet area with icemaker for extra prep space or serving space.

Note that this is a cruising boat! All the settees are storage lockers and also in the walls and cabinets. Literally room for a ton of supplies!

The Galley and saloon are separated by a bar and backsplash and the galley is equipped with a household size/type fridge and freezer and 3 burner stove. The storage is huge and the feeling is a house-sized and equipped kitchen.

Guest Room/Den

The guest suite is a combination of den and stateroom. To one end is a desk with drawers to be able to lay out your occasional work or mail. Then there is a large, L-shaped settee that converts to a large double. In addition there is a pullman berth that folds down from the wall. Suitable for one, adored by kids, but the real beauty is that guests come with luggage and now you have somewhere to put it!

There is also a secondary, watertight access to the engine room, lots of drawers storage and a large hanging locker.

Head and Shower and Laundry

The 44 is designed for a cruising couple with occasional guests. There is one large head with a great shower......but only one! It is located in the hallway for easy access to everyone.

Just beside the head is the full laundry with stacked/vented washer and dryer. (we are not going on an extended camping trip here folks!)

Master Stateroom

The master is a great space with lots of room and thanks to being located in the forward part of the boat, overhead light and breeze from overhead hatches and large portholes. There is no hull slap thanks to the Krogen hull's lack of chines and construction laminate schedule so all you will hear is the breeze through the screens.

There are two very big hanging lockers, a 6 drawer chest and 4 other large drawers under the bed. There is also additional storage in the finished space below the sole and the bed on gas-assist lifts. Like lots of storage!

Cockpit and foredeck

The Krogen design pays as much attention being a comfortable home as it does to being a Blue-water capable ship. After all, what is the point of crossing oceans to some picture postcard island if there is no place to sit outside and enjoy it? Who builds a beach house without a porch.

The "back porch" on the Krogen is the best in the business. Not only large, and on a single level with the saloon and galley, but the upper deck extends back completely over the aft rail. Also, the top deck is sloped side to side with large rain catch gutters so that you can sit on your aft deck in the rain and sip your dry martini in your dry socks. This is not a two chair after-thought perch, this is a beautiful outdoor entertainment area with space for tables and chairs for everyone. There is also a hot and cold shower to rinse people and pups!

The foredeck also has built in seating and a large open deck free of "shippy for the sake of looking shippy" obstacles so spread out your blanket and catch some rays as you cruise! This is supposed to be FUN not a survival course!

Flybridge

In keeping with the Krogen design philosophy, the flybridge is a fully functional helm and navigation station with all the equipment necessary to run the ship. However, as you cruise and when you arrive it is also a spacious entertainment area with seating for all and a large, open upper deck, especially after you have launched the tender with the easy to use boom winches.

The flybridge area itself becomes a shaded lounge while the boat deck becomes the ultimate roof top sun deck.

Engine Room

Engine hours 5175

Generator Hours 2525

The Krogen is a little ship in every way.

The engine room contains a commercial rated, continuous duty John Deere engine with an average lifespan of 20,000 hours before overhaul.

The generator is a 9Kw Northern Lights.

She is equipped with oil change system for engine, generator, and transmission. She has a high capacity fuel polishing system, excellent access to all systems including the stabilizers, and battery and charging systems and more importantly room to reach and work on all of them.
